A city is built by a network.
Architecture, engineering, energy, finance, government, and research. Every Orchid City is designed by people who do this work for a living, and who build the result in the real world.
A practice with a track record.
Orchid City is led by Except Integrated Sustainability and built with a network across architecture, engineering, energy, finance, government, and research.
Twenty-five years of integrated practice, built into one city.
Six kinds of partner, one design.
Design and architecture
Design and architecture give the city its form. UNStudio shapes neighborhoods, public space, and the walkable core, working from the climate and culture of each place rather than a fixed template.
Engineering
Engineering makes the city stand and run. Royal HaskoningDHV brings water systems, infrastructure, and environmental engineering, the technical backbone that turns a design into a place people can live in.
Government
Government clears the path to build. RVO, the Netherlands Enterprise Agency, supports innovation and the public groundwork that a new city needs, from policy to permitting to public partnership.
Energy
Energy partners power the city from within. They design the solar, wind, storage, and heat systems that let a city of 5,000 make more energy than it uses, at a marginal cost near zero.
Finance
Finance makes the city fundable. Cycas Capital and partners structure the financing so that a regenerative city pays for itself over time, instead of resting on subsidy.
Research
Research keeps the work honest. Research partners and learning institutions test the assumptions behind every blueprint, from biodiversity to food systems, so the numbers hold up before construction starts.
Specialists working as one system.
No single firm designs a city. A network does.
A city is not a building, and no one discipline can draw it. Energy, water, food, transport, work, learning, and housing all shape one another, so they have to be designed together. The network exists to make that possible: specialists who each go deep, coordinated around a single design for a single place.
Some partners join for one blueprint, others stay across many. The constant is the method. Each partner brings decades of their own practice to a shared model, and the result is a city that fits its place because the people who know that place built it.

Build the first ones with us.
The research is done and the method is proven. What grows the network now is the people ready to build.
